Leslie J. Bonci , MPH,RD,CSSD, LDN, FAND is a registered dietitian,
board certified specialist in sports dietetics and is the owner of Active
Eating Advice- be fit, fed, fearless- a nutrition consulting company and
co-founder of Performance365- a sports nutrition consulting company.
She was the sports nutrition consultant for the 2020, 2023 and 2024 Super
Bowl Champion Kansas City Chiefs. Leslie was also the company
nutritionist for the Pittsburgh Ballet Theater and school for several years.

David Throckmorton grew up in Washington, PA in a house filled with drummers. His father Bob and older brother Rob were a huge influence on his musical aspirations. David has toured the world and recorded with jazz trumpet legend Maynard Ferguson's band. He has also performed and/or recorded with Dianne Schuur, David Fiuczynski, Tony Grey, Reb Beach, Nir Felder, Mike Stern, John McLaughlin, Tomoyasu Hotei, Chris Potter, Michael Feinstein, Patrick Williams, Tony Monaco, Javon Jackson, Tim Ries and many more.
David also leads or co/leads numerous groups including DTC Organ Trio,Thoth Trio, Beam, Parker/Throckmorton, Sound/Unsound, Smash Your Wagon and the David Throckmorton Quartet.

The Turpentiners with Howling Mob
Dust off your dancin’ boots because Kingfly Spirits is bringing you a Friday Night double headliner!
Rural Swing band The Turpentiners share the bill with honky tonk favorites Howling Mob for a night of great music and dancing in the Loft.
The Turpentiners are a good time rural swing band homegrown right here in Pittsburgh. Having played together in some capacity for over 15 years, they have performed at numerous venues within the Tri-State Area, including Fallingwater, the Johnstown Folk and Flood Festival, Sweetwater Center for the Arts, Carnegie Music Hall, Hartwood Acres Stage, Touchstone Center for Crafts, Tree Pittsburgh’s Arbor Aid, and numerous shows for the City of Pittsburgh. Members include:
Ben Hartlage on guitar and vocals,
Stu Braun on harmonica
Megan Williams on violin, mandolin, and vocals
Adam Frew on upright bass
Ron Mesing on dobro.
Howling Mob is a five-piece honky tonk band also based in Pittsburgh. The group is named after the Great Railroad Strike of 1877, where angry protesters pushed over trains and set them on fire to push back against cut wages. Harper’s Weekly described the strikers as a “howling mob.” The group plays a mix of original music and covers ranging from Hank Williams and Patsy Cline to Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson.

This month, we’ve got Cuban Night on the 2nd Sunday (as Kingfly Spirits will be closed on the Easter Holiday the following week).
Hugo Cruz and Caminos! brings their monthly night of live Cuban style music in the lounge fusing rhythms and melodies of Afro-Cuban, Cuban, and American music in an original contemporary expression that honors traditional Cuban form.

Hugo Cruz and Caminos! released an album in February 2022 called Punto de Partida, featuring many notable musicians from Cuba and the U.S., recording eight of Hugo’s original compositions. In May 2022 Caminos was the Jazz Band headliner for the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival in Indiana PA. Caminos also have been performing a concert series called, “The Voice of Drums”, which brings many great drummers from the Pittsburgh area such as: Roger Humphries, Poogie Bell, Tubby Daniels, Noel Quintana, Dennis Gardner, Jeff Berman, and James Johnson III to join Camino’s way of expressing music.

We perfected our event planning, expanded our repertoire, added members to the band–and the rest is history! The Bachelor Boys Band has been setting the industry standard for event music ever since.

As founders of Salsa Pittsburgh, Jeff & Colleen teach group and private lessons, offer DJ services, and manage salsapittsburgh.com, a website dedicated to salsa dancing in Pittsburgh. They can be found most Sunday afternoons teaching group salsa classes at the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill, where they teach six-week class cycles six times per year for beginner and intermediate level dancers.
Jeff & Colleen were the hosts of Salsa Fridays at Greer Cabaret Theater, a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust event that lasted 11+ years. The Shireys have also organized over 30 large-scale salsa dance/workshop weekends that have showcased the talents of many international salsa professionals and world champions.

ABOUT THE BACHELOR BOYS:
As students of music, studio regulars, and touring sound engineers for high profile bands, we started performing together in 2012. These gigs quickly turned into requests to perform at private events and festivals. We loved seeing the joy and full dance floors that we could bring to these events. We perfected our event planning, expanded our repertoire, added members to the band–and the rest is history! The Bachelor Boys Band has been setting the industry standard for event music ever since.

Words & Sounds : Open Mic + Jam
Vocalist / Songwriter Sierra Sellers returns to Kingfly for a night of Words & Sounds!
An open mic and jam session featuring Allen Bell, Denzel Chismar-Oliver and Remy Vega : it’s an invitation to all singers / rappers / poets / musicians to join us on Sunday, March 9 from 7-9:30pm.

A "feel good" rock, folk, pop, soul, blues, and funk cover band. Over 300 songs ranging from bands like Fleetwood Mac, the Beatles, the Beach Boys, CCR, Carole King, and many more. A regular performer at Riley’s Pour House in Carnegie, we are bringing them to the Strip for an amazing afternoon of familiar favorites!

About the Hosts:
Jeff and Colleen Shirey discovered salsa nearly 30 years ago while listening to a Latin band at a Pittsburgh nightclub. They have been hooked on the music and dance ever since.
What started out as a hobby, developed into a passion and unexpected second vocation. As founders of Salsa Pittsburgh, Jeff & Colleen teach group and private lessons, offer DJ services, and manage salsapittsburgh.com, a website dedicated to salsa dancing in Pittsburgh. They can be found most Sunday afternoons teaching group salsa classes at the Wightman School Community Building in Squirrel Hill, where they teach six-week class cycles six times per year for beginner and intermediate level dancers.
Jeff & Colleen were the hosts of Salsa Fridays at Greer Cabaret Theater, a Pittsburgh Cultural Trust event that lasted 11+ years. The Shireys have also organized over 30 large-scale salsa dance/workshop weekends that have showcased the talents of many international salsa professionals and world champions.

Hugo Cruz and Caminos! released an album in February 2022 called Punto de Partida, featuring many notable musicians from Cuba and the U.S., recording eight of Hugo’s original compositions. In May 2022 Caminos was the Jazz Band headliner for the Westsylvania Jazz and Blues Festival in Indiana PA. Caminos also have been performing a concert series called, “The Voice of Drums”, which brings many great drummers from the Pittsburgh area such as: Roger Humphries, Poogie Bell, Tubby Daniels, Noel Quintana, Dennis Gardner, Jeff Berman, and James Johnson III to join Camino’s way of expressing music.

Kingfly Spirits is proud to host the inaugural 2025 quarterly meeting of the BANNED BOOKS Book Club!
Join us on Sunday, February 9th from 4-6pm as the group dives into The Color Purple by Alice Walker.
Cocktails, Beer, Wine and Non-Alcoholic choices will be available at the bar along with light snack options if you’re feeling peckish.
